Boy, this has to be one of the quietest news lists I've seen!
Oh well I'll tell the world what I'm doing, perhaps I can get some constructive comments.
We have a project here in relating ground water quality to land use. We are looking at land use in a very detailed manner, for example delineating by photo lab/leather works, as opposed to industrial/commercial. One of our fears is that we will not be able to differentiate between these sources when we look at the available water quality data. This is more of an industrial/commercial study than an agricultural one.
The study will look at the history of land use in the region, for example what was once a coal-tar plant with exstensive DNAPL deposits is now a fairly innocent looking field.
Hopefully the result from the study will be information on where the danger spots are in the region. What pollution is where in the ground and when could it be a danger to drinking water supplies. The project will use the Kitchener-Waterloo Region as an example. (Pop 300,000, mostly using groundwater as drinking water)
